Ascent to the Cross of Santos by the Martells

What will you see on this route?

Discover an incredible hiking route starting from the old Spa of Cardó (Baix Ebre). This route will take you to visit several hermitages in the valley, some of them located in elevated places, such as Santa Teresa, Sant Josep, Sant Roc, Santa Agnès, Sant Onofre and Sant Simeó or de la Columna. You can also admire the magnificent Roca Foradada and the unique Martells, cross the beautiful Cova Luminosa and explore the Cova de Sant Josep and the balm of the Cova dels Porcs. Along the way, you will pass several springs, such as Font de l'Avellaner, Font de Sant Josep, Font del Prior, Font de Sant Roc, Font dels Teixets and Font de l'Argilagar. Finally, you can climb to the top of Xàquera or Creu de Santos (915m), an excellent viewpoint of the region. Enjoy a unique and captivating experience on this fantastic hiking trail.

Visit six hermitages in the valley, each with its own history and charm: Santa Teresa, Sant Josep, Sant Roc, Santa Agnès, Sant Onofre and Sant Simeó or de la Columna. And sources such as the Avellaner, the Sant Josep, the Prior, the Sant Roc, the Teixets Fountain and the Argilagar Fountain

Spectacular viewpoints

Climb to the top of Xàquera or Creu de Santos (915 m) and enjoy impressive panoramic views of the region.

Access and duration

The route starts from the old Balneari de Cardó. The total distance is about 10 km with a difference in altitude of 692 m. Estimate a time of about 6 or 7 hours to complete it. It is a route of moderate difficulty.
