Mollet’s Tower

Mollet's Tower

The Mollet Tower is an old building located on the Els Mollets estate, to the right of the Ebre River and very close to the Xalamera Land. It is not an accessible building because it is located within a private estate; it can only be enjoyed from the road that goes from Benifallet to Les Coves. It is located on the same bank of the Ebro River and is made up of two bodies: the first is ellipsoidal in plan and its central part has an opening where the water wheel must have been located which, with the catúfols, mounted the river water Attached to this first tower is another, taller, circular plan, also made of stones and mortar, with an internal spiral staircase that leads us to a kind of viewpoint, which is the upper part of the first tower and until to a water tank located at the top of the circular tower. On the outside of the structure there are indications, by the appearance of the floor and by the remains of a central axis, that the gear that, driven by a mule, moved the sine was located there. Both towers are plastered and show signs of having received bullet impacts, probably from the time of the Spanish Civil War.
