The ancient lordships of <strong>Costum\u00e0<\/strong> and <strong>Card\u00f3-Sallent<\/strong> are also documented, granted to the <em>Pinyol<\/em> <span>(originally from the municipality)<\/span> and the <em>Montcada<\/em>, as compensation for their participation in the conflict.\n        <\/p>\n        <p>\n            The lordship of Benifallet does not appear in documentary records until 1153, with the donation of the <strong>Castle of Miravet<\/strong> to the <em>Order of the Temple<\/em>, which remained linked to the crown and under Templar custody between 1182 and 1208, when Peter the Catholic granted, for life, the castle and the village of <strong>Benihaleth<\/strong>, along with its territories and rights, to <em>Guillem de Cervera<\/em>, who, seven years later, returned them to the military order after constructing some fortifications.\n        <\/p>\n        <p>\n            The Templars held the lordship until 1294, when <em>fra Berenguer de Cardona<\/em> exchanged it for <strong>Pe\u00f1\u00edscola<\/strong> with <em>James the Just<\/em>. Throughout the 13th century, the <em>Pinyol<\/em> gradually acquired most of the territories of the current municipality, although it is unknown whether they ever held any privileges over the village. Between 1417 and 1459, some of their properties <span>(<em>Card\u00f3-Sallent, Costum\u00e0, and La Vall<\/em>)<\/span> and the <strong>castle of Benifallet<\/strong> <span>(which at that time was under the crown's jurisdiction)<\/span> came under the dependency of the <strong>Cistercian monastery of Benifass\u00e0<\/strong>.\n        <\/p>\n        <p>\n            The fortress of Benifallet was demolished during the Catalan civil war of 1462-1472.\n        <\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n                                    <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n\n
